Visiting Volunteers provide our community clients with not only companionship but other tasks such as:
Leisure: Reading & Watching Movies
Legacy work (photo albums, videos)
Non-nursing assistance with tasks such as meal preparation or laundry.
Caregiver Relief for short periods
Complimentary Therapies: such as Reiki, Healing Touch, Reflexology, Gentle Touch Massage, Hair Dressing, Nail Care
Volunteer Role Overview
Reports concern to the Client Caseworker and/or the Volunteer Services Coordinator.
Hospice clients and family members receive exemplary care and support within the community and through the Volunteer Visiting Program.

Here's what you can expect:
Role Overview:
Provide comprehensive support to hospice clients and families.
Offer companionship, emotional support, and practical assistance.
Ensure adherence to hospice policies and procedures.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Maintain personal boundaries and confidentiality.
Provide companionship, practical support, and caregiver relief.
Report changes in the client’s condition promptly.
Attend training sessions and practice good self-care.
Requirements:
Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
Understanding of diversity and cultural sensitivity.
Dependability, flexibility, and practical communication skills.
Screening and Training:
Completion of the screening process and orientation training.
Vulnerable Police Check required.
Attendance at ongoing education sessions.
Health and Safety:
Identification and reporting of health and safety risks.
Correct use of personal protective equipment.
Time Commitment:
Minimum one-year commitment with weekly visits lasting 3-4 hours.
Appropriate Attire:
Comfortable clothing without scented products.
A hospice photo name badge must be worn.
