At Hospice, supporting children through grief is a delicate and vital part of our mission. That’s why we’re so proud to introduce The Little Love Bug: Hope on Wheels — a tiny wagon filled with love, comfort, and hope, designed to help children and their families navigate the difficult journey of grief.
Why the Wagon Matters
Grief can be confusing and overwhelming, especially for children who may struggle to express their feelings or understand loss. The Little Love Bug wagon is more than just a collection of items — it’s a carefully curated toolkit crafted to offer comfort, encourage expression, and provide gentle support. Each item inside the wagon has a purpose:
Grief Cards: Illustrated with comforting messages, these cards invite reflection, provide gentle affirmations, and create space for kids, parents, and caregivers to express their feelings.
Stuffed Animals and Comfort Objects: From cuddly critters to weighted “worry pets,” these companions offer a soothing presence during tough moments.
Memory-Making Kits: These kits empower children to preserve precious memories through drawings, fingerprints, photos, and messages that honor their loved ones.
Creative Expression Supplies: Crayons, paints, and journals encourage kids to communicate their grief and love in their own unique way.
Soothing Sensory Items: Stress balls, glitter jars, and lavender sachets help calm anxious hearts and minds.
Child-Friendly Books on Grief: Picture books and stories gently explain loss and celebrate love that endures.
Supporting Families Through the Journey
The wagon isn’t just for children, it also includes resources for parents and caregivers, such as pamphlets on talking about grief, letters of encouragement, and community support information.
